
Jeffrey Fertig broke the State High Jump Record at the State Track Meet in Charleston, WV on May 23, 2009 with a jump of 6 feet 5 inches to break the current record of 6 feet 4 inches held by Clint Wilson of Bishop Donahue set in 2006. What a way to go out of PCHS. Jeff earned a sixth place in the long jump event with a jump of 19'1" (22'7" was the top score in the event) Jeff graduates on May 30. We all applaud you, Jeff.
Abrahm Rittenhouse earned a first place finish in the 3200 meter with a time of 10:07.02 and he earned a second place finish in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:37:01.
Team scores for the boys track teams which earned PCHS a single A division sixth place overall in the State meet achieved the following positions:
Shuttle hurdle relay team (Casey Withers, Andy Hefner, Noah Pugh aand Jesse Bolyard)finished 6th with a time of 1:04.25. Winning finish time was 1:00.76.2 for Buffalo.
4X100 team ( Andy Hefner, Aaron Totten, Dexter Skidmore, and Tanner Graham) earned a sixth place finish with a time of 46.63. The winning team Valley Wetzel had a time of 45.43.2.
4x200 team ( Andy Hefner, Aaron Totten, Dexter Skidmore, and Tanner Graham) earned a third place finish with a time of 1:35.74.4. Charleston Catholic took the event with a time of 1:34.23.2
4X400 team (Trevor Caplinger, Abe Rittenhouse, Jesse Bolyard, and Josh Arbogast) earned a sixth place finish with a time of 3:40.87. Winning time for this event was 3:44.88.2 for the team from Charleston Catholic.
4x800 team (Trevor, Abe, Jesse, and Grant Langston) earned a fourth place finish with a time of 8:45.42 to Charleston Catholics' winning team time of 8:28.82.
Discus - Evan Rose threw 124'8" for a sixth place finish.
Girls Events
Melody Walkup earned a sixth place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:35.94.
With 22 schools fielding teams in the meet, PCHS has again demonstrated the talent and drive that has achieved championship status this year. Congratulations to all our track and field stars on a job well done.
